Horsepool Dog Park: Our Review
Horsepool Farm have created a large but basic dog park for you to exercise your dog with total peace of mind. There is one fully secure field for your dog to run free and play in safety in the beautiful Romsley countryside. The field is based on a farm, and you do have to walk through the farm to get to the secure field. Sometimes there are cattle in the barns there - so an important thing to think about when trying to figure out if this secure field is right for you.
The other thing to bear in mind is that there are no obstacles in the field. Just lots of grassy hills to explore! It's a good size for your dog to have a good run around it, and a couple of benches, water bowls and a bin at the entrance too. There are poo bags too but it's recommended you use your own. There are no toilets on site, and there are at times people and other dogs on the farm yard. We go to this field a lot and i will say that it's rare that you see other people and dogs - but it does happen.
Horsepool dog park have recently changed changeover time rules too. Time slots are now limited to 50 minutes, to allow limited crossover time between sessions - so you have 10 minutes to exit the field to make sure others can enjoy it.

Our Rating - 👹👹/👹👹👹👹👹
This is our local field, and though it's not the most exciting - there are usually slots available on the day for you to book in.
Reactivity rating: 👹👹👹👹/👹👹👹👹👹 (4/5)
This is a basic field, but ticks the boxes of security, lack of dogs and people. It's in a quiet village too so it's often very quiet.
People Points: 👹👹/👹👹👹👹👹 (2/5)
There are places to sit and enjoy the countryside here, and there is a small farm shop on site selling fresh milkshakes and other dairy products (it is a dairy farm!) but there aren't toilets or any other amenities, so we are giving it a 2/5.
Scenery Score: 👹/👹👹👹👹👹 (1/5)
You can't see much of it - but the Romsley countryside is beautiful. But the field is facing a road so you are just looking at the field!
Accessibility Scale: 👹/👹👹👹👹👹 (1/5)
The field is in the middle of nowhere (not the worst thing in the world as we LOVE a quiet countryside walk) so you would have to drive and park. Parking is the other end of the farm so you have to walk through a farm yard that can get quite muddy - so wouldn't work for wheelchairs.
Canine Courtesy Count: 👹👹👹👹/👹👹👹👹👹 (4/5)
Because of the time in between session change over, you pretty much never see other dogs and if you do, they are on lead as you MUST have your dog on lead when you are not in the field itself. We've given it a 4/5 because no one is perfect and we have seen the odd dog on the farm itself who are not on lead. Doesn't happen often, but when it does - it's annoying :).
So overall, we'd recommend. It's not the most exciting field out there - but it works for us and the local area! Click to book below.
Why are secure fields important for reactive dogs?
Secure fields are beneficial for dogs for several reasons:
Safety: A secure field prevents dogs from escaping, reducing the risk of accidents, getting lost, or encountering dangerous situations such as traffic.
Freedom to Exercise: Dogs can enjoy off-leash freedom within a secure boundary, allowing them to run, play, and explore safely.
Training Opportunities: Secure fields provide controlled environments for training exercises, allowing owners to work on obedience, recall, and socialisation without distractions or safety concerns.
Stress Reduction: Secure fields offer a familiar and enclosed space where dogs can relax and unwind without the stress of unfamiliar surroundings or potential threats.
